Fleet models and form factors we take

Business fleets are built from a short list of families, and yours is almost certainly on it. On the laptop side: Dell Latitude 5000 and 7000, Dell Precision mobile workstations, HP EliteBook 800 series, HP ProBook and ZBook, Lenovo ThinkPad T, X and L series, and Apple MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, Intel and Apple silicon alike.

On the desktop side: Dell OptiPlex in tower, small form factor and micro, HP EliteDesk and ProDesk in the same three shapes, Lenovo ThinkCentre M series including the tiny 1 litre chassis, Dell Precision and HP Z tower workstations, and Apple iMac and Mac mini.

We buy

  • Business laptops: Latitude, Precision mobile, EliteBook, ProBook, ZBook, ThinkPad T, X and L, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro
  • Desktops in tower, small form factor and micro: OptiPlex, EliteDesk, ProDesk, ThinkCentre M, iMac and Mac mini
  • Tower workstations, all-in-ones and 2-in-1 convertibles, in the same lot as the rest
  • Machines with the drive, the memory or the caddy already pulled
  • Docking stations and the power supplies that belong to the machines

We do not buy

  • Loose chargers, headphones and accessories offered as a lot on their own
  • Networking gear of any kind: switches, routers, firewalls
  • Printers, copiers, scanners and office furniture
  • Machines still enrolled or BIOS locked to your tenant, until they are released
  • Swollen or split battery cells, which are separated on site and recycled

Chromebooks are priced differently and have their own page. Screens off the same desks are on the monitors and projectors page.

Condition, stated in plain language

Every seller uses grade letters slightly differently, so describe the fleet rather than grade it. Here is the language we use, and every band on it is bought in the same lot at the same time.

CleanWorking, light wear, battery holds a charge, no missing keys
MarkedWorking, scratched lids, worn palm rests, faded keys, scuffed cases
CrackedCracked panels, delaminated bezels, broken hinges, missing feet
DeadNo power, no post, failed board, dead battery, liquid damage
StrippedDrive pulled, memory pulled, no caddy, no bezel, no power supply
Every band above goes on the same truck. We do not ask you to pull the dead units out first, and we do not take the clean ones and leave you the tail.

A rough split is enough. Two hundred working, forty with cracked screens, and a pallet of dead ones is a usable description. You do not need to test the fleet before you send the list. Tell us what was pulled out of the stripped units so the count is not a surprise on arrival.

What sets the number on a fleet

Five things, in roughly this order of weight: the model and processor generation, the memory and drive configuration, the quantity behind each individual line, the condition split, and the pickup location. Two hundred identical Latitude 5420 units price differently from two hundred machines spread across eleven models, because one is a saleable lot and the other is eleven small ones.

We price against what the equipment currently moves for in the wholesale and export market. The offer comes back on the whole lot, against current market conditions, in writing, before you commit anything.

The most useful thing you can send is an export from your asset management system with model, processor, memory and drive on it. Photographs of the pallets work too. Rough counts are fine, and the hub explains what qualifies if you are not sure the fleet is big enough.

Drives, and the decision you make before pickup

The drives are the part that keeps people awake, so settle them first. There are three routes and all three are ordinary. We do not sanitize in house and we do not issue certificates ourselves.

  • Keep the drives

Pull them before pickup and the machines ship without them. The lot is priced as a drive-less fleet, which is a normal starting point rather than a problem.

  • Wipe them in place

Wipe the drives on your own equipment, under your own procedure, while they are still in your building. Nothing leaves unwiped and nothing depends on us.

What we can and cannot certify
  • Route the lot through a processor

Routing a lot through a certified processor is available on request. We name the processor for that specific job, in writing, before the collection is booked.

    Where we are not certified

The data handling page states exactly what we can and cannot do, and the certifications page says plainly what we are not certified for.

Getting a fleet out of the building

Laptops and small form factor desktops palletize well, which is why fleet pickups usually turn into one truck rather than several. Tell us the floor, whether there is a dock or only a passenger lift, whether the building requires a certificate of insurance, and what hours the loading bay is open. We book the carrier, we supply the pallets and the wrap, and we arrange a liftgate where the building has no dock. We do not operate our own trucks.

  1. Day one

You send the fleet list. We come back with a written offer inside 24 hours.

  2. The offer stands for 7 days

Long enough to take it to procurement without the number moving underneath you.

  3. 3 to 5 business days

The usual gap between agreeing the deal and the truck arriving. 48 hours is the shortest we have booked.

  4. 3 to 5 business days after verified receipt

Settlement by ACH or wire transfer, against a written receiving report.

Who pays for what is set out on the pickup and freight page. If the fleet is coming out because a lease is ending, the office closing page works backwards from the date on the lease.

The other four categories in the same building

A fleet refresh rarely moves on its own. Everything below can go on the same list and leave on the same truck, which is almost always cheaper than four separate collections.

  • Servers and storage

The machine room rather than the desks. Racked or de-racked, whole rooms and part rooms.

  • Monitors and projectors

The screens off the same desks, plus the conference room projectors. Bulky, light and best moved in one truck with the machines.

  • Phones and tablets

Handsets and tablets in graded lots, cracked and non-working units included.

  • Chromebooks

Priced on a different curve from Windows and Mac fleets, including devices past auto-update expiry.

Questions about laptop and desktop lots

Do I have to sort the working units from the dead ones?
No. Send the fleet as it stands. We take working, non-working, cosmetically damaged and mixed grades in one lot, and we do not cherry-pick the good machines out and leave you the rest.
How old is too old?
Age on its own does not disqualify a fleet. Processor generation, memory, drive size and the quantity behind each model matter far more than the year on the invoice. Send the list and we will tell you honestly what the lot is worth to us.
Can I keep the drives?
Yes. Pulling the drives before pickup is a normal request and it is priced as a drive-less lot. If you would rather they travel with the machines, our data handling page sets out what we can and cannot certify.
Do you take the docking stations and power supplies with the fleet?
Docks and the power supplies that belong to the machines travel with the fleet. We do not buy loose chargers, headphones or accessories on their own, and we do not buy networking gear. Machines that arrive without their supply are still bought. Missing power supplies and accessories are priced in, not treated as a fault. State them on the manifest and the offer accounts for them once.
The machines are still asset tagged and enrolled. Is that a problem?
The asset tags are not. We remove them before the machines move on, and we can capture the serial numbers against the tags on request so your register closes cleanly. Enrollment is the part that matters. We do not buy activation-locked, FRP-locked or MDM-enrolled devices. Release them before the pickup date, or hold them back and we price the rest of the lot.
Some of the laptops have swollen batteries. Do they still come?
The laptops do. Pull swollen or split cells before the pallet is wrapped and set them aside for battery recycling. The device still comes with the lot. The damaged cell does not travel with it. Flag the rough count on the list so the pallets are built and wrapped for it rather than opened at receiving.
